So earlier this year (2015), i got engaged. It did not happen when and where you thought it did sha (hee hee hee) and one day i shall tell...

But fast forward to November 2015 and le boo and i got married! Very grateful to Nigeria's best event planner, who also happens to be my sister, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe (how lucky am i?). Apart from being the C.E.O of Zapphaire Events, the wedding coordinators, she also owns the sister company, 'Decor by Furtullah', headed by Pearl Ilolo. They put together a breath-taking fairytale wedding for me. Thank you to God, my partner, my family, my friends, our guests, and once again, the incredible, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe and her team.

When my sister asked what i wanted for my wedding, i told her i wanted people to be happy and leave feeling like wow, they had experienced something beautiful! I also wanted our (Omowale and i) cultures, passion and things we love reflected.

Fun Facts:
- The table names were in either French or Yoruba. They were names or titles of things that mattered to us. I for example wanted to celebrate my grandmothers so i had 'Olakunbi' and 'Adeoti' tables (their names), and also my house in secondary school (Efunjoke).

- My 'something borrowed' was a brooch from Sasha and my tiara from Princess. Something new were my shooooooes and dress. Something old was the bracelet that belonged to my maternal grandmother that i wore in her memory and Something blue was... (guess)

It does not matter what you do, one day you will wake up and say (pardon my French), "fukc it, I'm going back to bed".
We all struggle and search for relevance. And get sad or unfufilled when we don't think we are being so.

Someone sent me a message (see image) and I just had to save it! Not because I feel this way now, but I may. One day. And I'd need it to read, right?

If you are feeling in a rut and maybe a little irrelevant today, understand that everyone and everything matters. Find the reason for the job and the bigger picture and you'll be relevant.

One thing to do when that 'what am I doing here' question comes up in relation to work is to ask yourself, "Does my work..."
- help people?
- make people smile?
- make people look beautiful?
- help people feel beautiful?
- solve a problem?
- give people dignity?
- help me, my family, my nation, my friends?

If your job does at least one of these things, then believe me, you are relevant!

#4pmInLagos Amy Schumer and Serena Williams: One calendar i am down with

Actress, Amy Schumer might have called it, "...gross, fat, ugly, disgusting.." amongst other things, but i find the Pirelli calendar featuring Amy and tennis superstar, Serena Williams, simply, "Beautiful, Strong, Pretty, Sexy, Flawless". Also Amy's words.

Women come in all shapes, sizes, colours and with flaws, strengths, marks and more, so why do we only ever show photoshopped perfection? Apart from  the social, psychological and physical issues this creates for society, it also hides the beauty in the imperfections like spots, veins, scars and more.

We should celebrate all forms of beauty- like Jennifer Lopez who cannot really be fourty can she? Like Serena with her athletically toned abs and body. Like Amy Schumer, flaws and all. Like you and i.
