7 Social Media Trends to get on Board of NOW!
There is always some new update or trend and it can get tiring but stay on top we must, especially if we are on social media to grow our brands and businesses.
Check out 7 Trends to take advantage of today!
1. Stories and other Disappearing Posts
Be it Snapchat, Facebook or Instagram, you can now send short stories out to your audience, and they will disappear after a period (for most platforms, 24 hours).
This is especially good where you are at an event for example and want to show a lot of what is going on but would not want to post them on the page directly.
Now with the 'Highlights' feature on Instagram, it is even better as you can leave some on your page to give people a glimpse of your day and interests. Categories like 'Beauty', 'Nature', 'Cars' etc can easily show visitors to your page what your page is about.
2. Live!
Go Live! You can host a live talk show, connect instantly with fans or show demonstrations of how you do things by going live from your page. To avoid talking to just yourself, be sure to let people know in advance that you will be live, so for example you can start prepping your followers 2 to 3 days in advance.
P.S, Do you know you can now go live on YouTube as well? It is not just for edited videos!
3. Follow Hashtags
A platform like Instagram now allows you not just follow people, but also hashtags.
This means instead of following everyone who sometimes posts things you may be interested in, you can follow a hashtag and see more of those type of content. How does it work to your advantage?
See next tip
4. Use Hashtags
Now that people can follow hashtags, create one that is unique but universal!
5. Videos
Video content will continue to garner more attention than just pictures and practically every platform supports this now. Don't think of just long form videos, even Boomerangs and Microsoft Hyperlapse videos work as well.
Aim to incorporate more video content moving forward
6. Don't Ignore Whatsapp
Whatsapp is basically turning itself into a social media platform so if you use it already, try out its new features like status updates, and try out unique features like groups for your brand.
(While we are it, do join my whatsapp group by sending a message to +2348136882989)
7. Don't ignore Generation Z
Every year, thousands and millions more are eligible for voting, driving, and social media platforms...
Find a way to target new audiences, old and young.
Monday
I gave a Talk on Social Media and s.h.a.r.ed these 4 Practical tips
It is a New day and I am feeling good!
I may be one of the few people to actually like Mondays. I cannot help it, on Monday, I feel superhuman.
Yesterday I went over my digital strategy once again, and I thought of the things I do that help, and the ones that made things worse. I would like to s.h.a.r.e some of those with you, and these are also some of what I s.h.a.r.ed when I spoke at the Zapphaire Connect Series.
- Post consistently, at least Once a day!
This one gets a lot of groans from people but once you get into it it becomes easier.
Ensure you post at least one thing daily because consistency and regularity on social media helps with engagement.
A good trick is to take advantage of most common hashtags like #ManCrushMonday #WomanCrushWednesday #ThrowbackThursday and more.
- Make yourself easy to find on your platforms
If your name is available, it is best to use that as your handle. If it is not, whatever you do use as your handle, ensure you also put your name or your company's name in the 'Name' sections. This way, if someone is searching for your name, your profile will still pop up.
- s.h.a.r.e these kinds of content
You can have fun with your content online but apart from your uniquely created type of content, you can also try things like Trending topics, Questions, Quotes and Motivation, Beautiful scenery, Giveaways, etc.
These kinds help with your engagement and make your page easy to fall in love with.
- Have fun with it and be yourself!
Why would we follow clones? Be your absolute self online and have fun with it!
If you want more social media tips and advise, search 'social media' on this blog. I also have some on my YouTube

#OAP101 Find out why 1 post a day brings followers your way!
Whether you like social media or not, chances are, as an on air personality, you will have to use it.
Whenever i train or consult for on air personalities and it comes to social media, the one tip i s.h.a.r.e is- POST AT LEAST ONE THING DAILY.
This is the simplest must-do if you want your social media popping because one of the reasons people follow or like posts is because of consistency. We want to know that when we come to your page, we see something new so give us something new daily.
When you first start with that one post a day, you can then increase your number of posts. I like to do 3 on facebook, instagram and google plus with a little more on twitter.

First i would like to say "thank you" to everyone who has applied so far. I have been told we received a lot of applications (good, bad, off track and great).
We have also been able to offer internship slots to various people and the great news is- THERE ARE MORE SLOTS AVAILABLE.
But not for PRESENTERS. (The response from presenters was overwhelming and all slots have now been filled).

ABCs of a Successful Job Search
Hi guys,
Did you notice the same trend i did? People now taking to the streets to look for jobs?
Two ladies, one in Port Harcourt the other in Lekki, Lagos, took their job search to the streets.

Your first reaction could be to laugh or wave them off as crazy, but think about it; it means these people have searched so much that they feel going on the streets is the next step! Twittersphere was naturally divided with some people making fun and condemning them while others could see why it was neccessary.
Personally, I think you should do what you can to get what
you want, as long as you do not hurt others in the process. These ladies looked
at the sad job situation in Nigeria, and went out to the streets to get a job,
they should be saluted for this. Still it is sad. Sometimes, I really wish I
could employ everyone.
However, since I cannot, I can share a few tips I have found
useful over the years. So it doesn’t have to get to the extent where you carry
a placard and march to the street.
1.
Learn a Skill
The employment situation in Nigeria is bad.
Yet, there will always be jobs for skilled people. So regardless of what you
studied in school, or have a degree in, learn a skill, whether or not related to your field of study. This skill can be learned
while you are still an undergraduate or during your service year. ‘The craft of
a man (or woman) will pave a way for him (or her)’ is a popular and very true
saying.
(Kudos to the interns who come to Top Radio 90.9 all the time to learn skills!)

2.
Build and Use a Network
Even if you are a natural introvert, you
need to learn to reach out to people, talk to them and save their contacts.
Attend workshops and seminars related to the industry you would like to work
in. Apply for competitions too. You will find yourself growing a network, which
you can then use when the time comes.
3. Social Media
The lady from Port Harcourt, her picture went
viral, because a job search handle @findjobng on Twitter tweeted her picture,
and soon people were calling her to offer jobs.

The lady from Lekki too had her
picture taken and it was shared on Twitter, and soon she got a call from
Andela, an IT firm. The lesson? Make use of social media networks- Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to boost your search.
Not only can you use them to search, but you can also find. A lot of people advertise offers and openings on their social media networks. Remember when a popular actress hired a p.a off instragram? Exactly!

Hope this helps you, and o, before i go off, quick one; can you do what those ladies did?
