#ShopTosyn x Getting ready in less than 20minutes!

Hi all.
As you may know, i am on radio in the mornings from 6am to 11am (Top Radio 90.9) so my daily look has to be easy to achieve but still good enough for say, pictures or videos.
I wanted to use today as a case study for how i manage to get ready in about thirty minutes every day.

Hair
First i parted my hair into two equal halves then plaited eight braids. From there, you can style and manipulate the hair anyway you want.
Have rubber bands, hair bands and hair pins handy!!!

TIP:
+ How how to do at least three styles that are simple, easy and quick to finish, and that work for your face.

Face
I started with a make up base and then my foundation. I love applying foundation with my fingers by the way... i find it gives me better control. For the eyes, i actually used blush as eyeshadow. Ha Ha Ha! Love it. One day when i have time, i will actually try lipstick as eye shadow. Used some concealer under the eyes, put some dark then pink blush for the cheeks to define it and then powder. For the lips, i wanted to try something red but dark so i lined the lips with chocolate lipstick and then used some red lip gloss.
I love darker shades but they can be a pain if you don't get it right or pose for pictures right. Finished with powder.

TIP
+ Same as with your hair, for when you are rushing, you need to know the top three to five things your face needs.

Outfit
To be honest, i had a different outfit planned for today but it was one of those what you saw in your head and how the combination looks for real are so different. Had to change to something simple but still stylish.
Thankfully i had these shorts i had just got, paired with one of my favourite 'blouses' and voila! I was ready.

TIP
+ The best way to get out of the house quickly is to put your outfit out the night before. BUT, to give you even extra mileage, arrange your wardrobe so you can see things you can pair beautifully, easily.

I hope this helps and i want to hear from you- How long does it take you to get ready for work and what are your 'cheats' for looking great in just a few minutes?

#TBDaily x Bonang Matheba... On Staying focused and getting what you want!

For today's Monday Motivation, i wanted to s.h.a.r.e something Bonang Matheba, radio and television personality, plus amazing business woman, told me back in December when she came to Nigeria to co host 'The Future Awards 2015' with Darey.

We were at BLD in Lekki so it was more of a laid back drinks night out with a couple of other media personalities like Ariyike, Toke and Latasha Ngwube but i still had to ask her a quick interview-type question.

There are several sides to Bonang and i was interested in Bonang the successful mediaprenuer. For me, i wanted to know her tips for staying focused and getting what you want in life, what is in store for her in the future, and of course, you do not sit with Bonang and not get her must-do beauty essentials!

On How To Stay Focused and Get What You Want
Bonang keeps it simple with these three tips
Don't listen to other people and their negativity. Listen to yourself
Unlock your mind. It helps you to free yourself
Get over what people think about you.

On What Is Next For Her
Bonang is really passionate about conquering the international stage and having a family of her own.

On Her Top Three Beauty Essentials
"Foundation, Lashes long and gorgeous and Black liquid liner"

Her message for her fans in Lagos and indeed, Nigeria
"Thank you. The love has been incredibly overwhelming. Lagos is my favourite city on the continent"

#TBDaily x My 2017 basic hair care routine

Hi everyone
So since i have had so many enquiries about my hair care routine, here goes.

First off, a word of caution- as with everything else, hair is individual and what works for one may not work for all. While i won't recommend playing too much with your hair as some things may cause irreparable damage, there is nothing wrong with trying things.

For me, i put my hair care down to three things;
- washing
- mosturising
- styling
- letting it breathe!

Okay so when it comes to washing ones hair, there is a big debate about how often you should tdo that. I am from the 'not too often' school of thought because i feel a little dirt and oil is good for it. If you do not have dandruff, it does not smell and you have not been rolling in the sand, your hair should be fine. I wash my hair regularly, but also right before i want it to lose its volume and be more manageable.
( p.s, i washed it with coke once. read about that here- )

I am a fan of baby products. If it is good enough for baby, it can't harm adults right? So i use baby oil on my hair. When my hair was shorter i used a lot of Virgin Hair Fertiliser because i liked the smell, feel and results. I actually will buy some more come Monday. It really helps. I believe in trying things once in a while but i always go back to my oils in whatever shape or brand.

While for a big red carpet event, i get help from hairstylists like Preye of MzPreye Makeovers, i experiment with new styles often. The length of your hair affects the styles you can rock with it and now that my hair is longer, i miss bangs. I do find that styles that involve pulling the hair show off its length a bit more so buns for example.
Quite often though, i will just let it breathe and be as too much manipulation can cause breakage and loss of hair.

And that is one thing i do for my hair and skin- let it breathe.

If i am not working, or won't be taking pictures, i keep my hair and skin easy breezy. Don't stress your hair, especially if you are older than 25. And if you are not yet 25 and reading this, then please do all you can with it now! Lol

Monday

#TBDaily x #MondayMotivation A Day is a Day is a Day

Growing up, Mondays felt sacred. I watched people treat Monday like a mystical day. You had to 'price' the goods in the market properly, not fight with your neighbours and not give bad or stressful information because 'o saro Monday" (it was early Monday morning).
Okay.

For me, i hated Sunday evenings because they brought the week, not just Monday, but every single day i would have to wake up early, then go to school and get some homework for the next day. Till today, Sunday evenings can be scary for me.

Between university and NYSC, when i could truly let my inner gypsy shine because lectures / classes could be at anytime so Mondays were no longer as special, i fell back to loving each day for what it brought.

It was refreshing to not have Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays etc, but have 'Family Law', 'Js 3' etc. For holidays, days became blurry and Monday (and to a lesser extent, Sunday), lost its scare.

For those of us in the creative industry, or who run companies outside a 9 to 5, the same effect is there. Like i tell people, i work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays... any day that ends with day.

The best way to tackle these things really is to not attach any special or mystic importance to any day in particular. That is not to say you shouldn't chart your energy levels and know your best days, but when we have all these 'moandays' jokes et al, it just gives 24 hours power. The kind of power we give 'New Year', but without the positive side effects like resolutions.

So this little message is to say, it is all psychological. And if you conquer Monday, you can conquer the week, But remember, after all is said and done, each day is the same twenty four hours. Don't let one day ruin your week. Nor life.

#4pminLagos x #MovieNews 3 things i know about Fast and Furious 8

Hey fam!
So, if you are a fan of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, you probably already know that there will be an 8th movie made and now, following an instagram post by Vin Diesel, i can s.h.a.r.e three more things i know based on quick research!

1. 'Fast and Furious 8' is heading to New York New York.
He told Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show' that Fast and Furious was based on an article about street races in New York. '8' is taking it home 'baby'.

2. 'Fast and Furious 8' will be directed by F. Gary Grey.
Gary Grey is the same guy that directed 'Straight outta Compton' so it will be interesting to see him on this one.

3. And of course, you know this already- this is the first 'Fast and Furious' movie in the franchise that will not feature Paul Walker' who passed on while the 7th one was still in production.

#4pminLagos Skales, Burna Boy, Falz and more celebrate #TwelveDaysOfCelebrityChristmas with the fans and I

It's a great time to do a final recap of some of the highlights of the season like my "12 Days of Celebrity Christmas".
I was able to celebrate Christmas uniquely by connecting fans with some of their favourite celebrities and giving them the opportunity to win gifts and autographed c.ds.
The two week special tagged "12 Days of Celebrity Christmas" kicked off on December 21st and ran through January 1st. During that time, guests like Skales, Burna Boy and Falz came by bearing gifts and talking about their plans for 2016.
There were also various countdowns during that period like, "Top Female", "Top Album" "Top Alternative Artiste", "Most Fashionable Male" and more. This was also a highlight as some guests had to do push ups when they guessed their position on the countdown wrongly.
Initially, it had been announced that only one fan would win but due to the number of gifts like accessories, Gbemisoke shoes, selfie sticks, and massive hampers from the celebs and myself, three winners were picked in the end.
A big "thank you" to Skales, Lamide Akintobi, Mr 2Kay, Burna Boy, Falz, Runtown, Buki HQ Media and s.h.a.r.e for making the first edition of #TwelveDaysOfCelebrityChristmas a successful one!
Check out '#TwelveDaysOfCelebrityChristmas" and Tosyn Bucknor's instagram and youtube channel for more pictures and videos.

#SkincareSaturday Three things to do for your skin this weekend!

Ideally, we should pamper ourselves every day.  Unfortunately, with the hustle and bustle that is Lagos, we usually end up with at best, ...
