WCW: GBEMI OLATERU-OLAGBEGI

Happy new year fellaz!! It's great to be back after the amazingly short holidays! Our first woman crush of the year is the delectable Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi. What's not to love about her? She's an on-air-personality at Beat FM and the C.E.O of Gbemisoke shoes. How she has been able to anchor an evening show all by herself over the years is very impressive, so I thought to have a quick chat with her. Enjoy!

1)     You are a media personality and a fashion entrepreneur, what do you love most about your career path?

GBEMI: The freedom to create . I can come up with new ideas for the media part and come up with new ideas for the fashion part .

2)     As a media personality, you will have gone for quite a number of auditions; can you tell us about one audition you can never forget?

GBEMI: I was invited to audition for a very popular show and I was TOTALLY unprepared . I ended up messing it up because I was too nervous to answer some of the questions they asked me. The lesson is “Do your research and be prepared for anything !”

3)     What do you love to do outside of work?

GBEMI: I watch movies , series and reality shows.

4)     You anchor the drive time show on Beat FM all by yourself, what tips would you say have helped you become respectable and popular over the years?

GBEMI: I think people count on me to say it is as it is. They do not always like what I have to say but they always know I keep it real .

5)     What’s something you wish you could do but don’t know how to?

GBEMI: Play the drums and DJ. I’m going to learn at least one of them this year.

6)     What is your most favorite thing about yourself?

GBEMI:  My favorite thing is that I can adapt to any situation I find myself in. I always survive . No matter what !

7)     What advice would you give to someone trying to make it in the media industry?
GBEMI: Be innovative , be smart and resilient .

8)     It’s a new year; tell us one thing you hope to do in 2018?

 GBEMI: Make more money , work smarter !

 GBEMI: What gym to enroll in ! Lol

WCW: Aderonke Enoabasi Adefalujo (Rhonkefella)

Hi Guys! Happy Wednesday, is it me or we are speeding towards the end of the year. I'm happy about that though. Hope we are all doing great? Great!

I'm not sure I remember well the first time I stumbled on Rhonkefella's page, but I know  that once I did, I became hooked. With lots of amazing fashion  wears to feed your eyes with, you can't but imagine the amount of hard work that goes into the work she does as a fashion designer, make-up artist, style blogger and influencer. I knew I had to have a chat with her to find out how she keeps her pages popping and with obviously so much on her plate, she still made out time for this interview! *how sweet* :)

Hi Aderonke!

1)      Many people see you as a style icon, do you ever feel under pressure to look stylish, especially when you don’t really feel like dressing too glam?

Ronke: I will rather say I'm blessed with a chameleon kind of beauty, when I'm not all glammed you probably wouldnt know that is Rhonkefella so outside the social media world, if I do not feel like being all dressed up , I don't force it, I just step out as ADERONKE not Rhonkefella!

2)      Your brand is quite popular and respectable on social media; what will be your top three tips for people who hope to grow their brand via social media?

Ronke: know your purpose
Stay original
Be consistent

3)      Please share with us one of your proudest moments in your career?
Ronke: being awarded and getting recognition for what I do makes me proud, when I started it was just all about my passion, never did I set out to be known or whatever, was just doing what I love, so having to be duly recognized and awarded is such an honor, and a thing of pride I must say!

4)      Have you ever had any embarrassing style moments? Please tell us about them?

Ronke::Not yet! Been keeping d CV clean🤣

5)      What’s your favourite fashion piece?

Ronke: glasses ( eye wear)

6)       A Style NO NO for you has to be what?

Ronke: whatever doesn't fit me, I won't wear it

7)       What’s that one thing you wish to do but haven’t yet done?

Ronke: singing and acting

8)      Tell us something about you/your work that many people don’t know about.

Ronke: my work is stressful, sometimes mentally and physically, sometimes depression sets in! Specially when you always wanna stay ahead of your game! I'm a creative so it first takes a lot of mind work before the putting pieces together

9)       If you were to choose one, what's something you’d like to change in the fashion industry ?
Ronke: Honestly nothing I can think of at this moment of this interview!


10)    What’s on your mind this Wednesday
Ronke: Money o! Never been this motivated to make more money, more great moves! Working on new collections at the moment it's about to be LIT

WCW: FOLU STORMS AND THE MYSTERY BEHIND HER NAME

Wednesdays are very special to me and I'm not sure why, maybe it's because I was born on Wednesday; But then again my heart isn't satisfied with that explanation so I'll just say I don't know why! I love Wednesdays and our WCW today has just has me ecstatic. So much knowledge and enthusiasm in one person. Folu Storms is an actor, host and and explorer. Enjoy!

1)      You’re an OAP and TV Presenter; is media/communication something you’ve always been passionate about?

FOLU: I guess I've always been passionate about communicating and being an advocate. I didn't know media was were I would end up as I'm a barrister and practiced the law for a short time before making the transition. I have always wanted to make a difference in the lives of people and one day I realised media could help me do that in a way the law could not.

2)      How did you get the 'Storms' in your name?

FOLU: The "Storms" pseudonym was born out of a love for water and a fascination with Yoruba Mythology. The understanding that God is in nature and the power of the waters even through storms held a special attraction for me. I chose a name specifically for media that reflected that.

3)      What’s the weirdest/most unusual type of music you listen to?

FOLU: Haha I think people are surprised by my eclectic taste in music. I don't consider any music weird but it's surprising to some that I enjoy a bit of heavy metal, classical music (Rachmaninoff or Tchaikovsky are my personal favourites) I'm a big fan of cinematic type of music ( Think Josh Groban and Nigerian artists like Lindsey Abudei and Some Bemyoda). I love blues, and I can get down with country music too. Lol nothing is off limits...except maybe trance music... I'm not sure I'm really on that train yet.


4)      Tell us one thing about you that people aren’t usually quick to believe.

FOLU: I am afraid of heights and scared of flying. That one usually throws people off considering my lifestyle choices :-)

5)      What's one thing you hope to have achieved by the time you're 50?
FOLU: To have nurtured and raised my own loving and supportive family while attaining my career goals.

6)      What inspires you?

FOLU: Life. It sounds cheesy but I am inspired by life everyday, the surprises it brings. I don't have any two days that are the same and each day is an opportunity to learn from people around me and the successes and failures of that moment. I am most inspired by the many small moments which woven together form the gorgeous tapestry of our lives and I am committed to living out each moment with joy and gratitude so help me God.

7)      Anything on your mind this Wednesday?

FOLU: This Wednesday, giving is on my mind. "Givers never lack". Often, we take this to mean money but giving of yourself and your time and whatever it is you have that you can give at that moment could make all the difference to another. Give a smile. Give a joke. Give some old shoes, give advice. Give a little this Wednesday.
